Covid-19 Policies Pack

I have been working hard to ensure that all the necessary steps have been taken to make the clinic and treatments as safe as possible for everyone. Therefore, there will be some changes in the process both before and during each session, to help ensure both yours and my safety. Please have a thorough read of the points below.

Prior to your appointment:

  • Before you leave your home, please check your temperature (must be below 37.8C), and consider if you are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms (new persistent cough, loss of, or change in, sense of smell or taste). If yes to any of those questions, please postpone or cancel your appointment.

  • There will be a consent form to complete regarding exposure to Covid-19. If you are considered a high-risk client, it may not be possible to book an appointment at this time. This includes:

• Those shielding vulnerable family members, front-line NHS staff & carers

• Anyone currently receiving treatment for cancer, any serious lung condition, anyone recently post-operative

• Experiencing severe post Covid-19 circulatory complications – DVT, micro-embolisms or PE (pulmonary embolism)

• Aged 70 years or older

• Pregnancy

• Mild heart & respiratory conditions – and suppressed immune systems

• Diabetes

• BMI over 39

• Anyone who has been in contact with someone with Covid-19 in the last 2 weeks

  • All consultation & consent documents can be signed & brought on the day or emailed beforehand. Please bring your own pen if you need one. I will have some printed copies available at the clinic to fill in on the day as a last resort.

  • Appointments are running on a tight schedule so please leave extra time for travel to avoid being late.

  • Please wait in your car until you receive a phone call letting you know that I am ready to see you. You will be greeted at the main door where you will be escorted to the treatment room making sure there are no contact points. If you are walking to clinic or coming via public transport wait outside the main entrance under the shelter of the stands until greeted.

  • Please leave coats / bags in the car if possible- out of sight in the boot. Bring as little as possible into the treatment room.

  • Please come alone to your appointment where possible, with the exception of minors (under 18 years) and any clients requiring a carer.

  • Following government advise on close contact services, please wear a face covering to your appointment.

At your appointment

  • Your temperature will be taken on arrival by a contactless thermometer.

  • Please bring your own water.

  • Please wear easy to remove clothes. You will be given a plastic container in which to put them when you undress. Please avoid wearing jewellery as this makes the process simpler.

  • When you arrive, you will be required to take off your shoes, use the hand sanitiser provided – and walk into the treatment room without touching anything.

  • The treatment room has been de-cluttered and all soft furnishings have been removed to ease cleaning.

  • The treatment couch will have been thoroughly disinfected and the linens/towels are all clean.

  • I will be using personal protective equipment until the requirement relaxes, this includes a face mask, gloves and apron. Being massaged in gloves is not unpleasant – you will barely feel it.

  • You will have access to tissues should you need to sneeze or cough, you should do this into the tissue then put into the bin and use the hand sanitiser once again.

After your appointment

  • When the treatment is over, please leave all the linens and towels on the treatment couch. Put your clothes back on, use the hand sanitiser once more and exit again without touching anything.

  • There will be an approximate 30-minute gap between clients, to enable disinfection of the practice space, treatment couch and equipment, hallways and bathrooms etc, with enough time to dry and take effect.

  • Toilet facilities will be available in the ‘Referee’s changing room’. I am thoroughly cleaning the bathroom in-between each appointment. Paper towels will be provided, please dispose of these in the pedal bin. You will be asked to use the hand sanitiser again on entry into the treatment room.

  • The treatment room will be well ventilated between clients and windows opened while cleaning is taking place.
